CODASYL, the Conference/Committee on Data Systems Languages, was a consortium formed to guide the development of a standard programming language

Hierarchical Database Model was developed by IBM

1966

Initial release of IBM Information Management System (IMS)

1969

Charles Bachman developed Network Model

1969

Edgar F. Codd developed relational model

1974

Donald D. Chamberlin and Raymond F. Boyce designed SQL (Structured Query Language)

Initial release of System R by IBM. System R was the first implementation of SQL (structured query language).

Michael Stonebraker and Eugene Wong developed Ingres (INteractive Graphics REtrieval System)
